- כּוֹתָל(כּוֹתֶל) m. (b. h. כֹּתֶל; כתל to press together, cmp. כתת) (something solid, cmp. אָטוּם, אוֹטֶם, wall. Gen. R. s. 68 (ref. to Gen. 28:11 ‘he struck) נעשה … כמין כ׳וכ׳ the whole world was before him blocked as by a wall. Ohol. VI, 3 כ׳ שהוא לאויר a wall which faces the air (which is continued above the roofing, or faces the court yard). Ib. כ׳ המשמש את הבית a wall made for forming an enclosure, contrad. to ib. 6 בית המשמש את הכ׳ a wall formed by digging two cavities next to each other. B.
